- Man-made living organs shape up for the future
Undoubtedly, technology is leaping ahead of time. And before it gets too late, medical science is also boasting of a life saving technique that intends to create new fleshy organs for the needy. It won't be long before humans will start manufacturing real human organs to replace the infected or dead organs. To prove this, researchers at University of Tokyo's Institute of Industrial Science (IIS) have created a 5-millimeter tall doll composed of living cells. This new method of fabricating three-dimensional living biological structures will be beneficial in the fields of regenerative medicine and drug development. How did the researchers manage to give shape to this ground-breaking doll? For a duration of 24 hours, about 100,000 cell capsules of skin coated 0.1-millimeter collagen balls were cultivated inside a doll-shaped mold. And once the cell capsules had coalesced to form the doll-shaped mass of tissue, it was placed in a culture solution where it survived for more than a day.

- Child-friendly Asthma Peak Flow Meter is still a concept
Only folks who suffer from asthma can value a med-product like a peak flow meter. This device can warn the user of an approaching asthma attack. And targeting the young asthma patients, Joe Dougherty has conceptualized a kid-friendly Peak Flow Meter. With the easy-to-interpret color lights, kids can easily interpret the feedback. This helps them to know how much dose should be administered. To administer medication the inhaler is held in a comfortable manner (like shown in the image) and the scissor-like actions delivers the proper dosage. Such a user-friendly asthma device combines asthma medication and peak flow to promote a new gestural way in which children can learn to identify and maintain their condition. In short making them independent to handle the breathlessness attacks without worry.
