A highly affordable disposable hearing aid

disposable_hearing_1.jpg Songbird hearing inc. is coming out with its disposable, cheap and discrete hearing aid, Flexfit. The $80 unit is radically less expensive than your average aid, which costs generally between $2000 - $4000, (plus battery replacements & maintenance charges later). The Songbird is rated for 400 hours of use, so it should be perfect for casual users who want or need to hear better in certain situations. For casual users, the apparatus would last say many months.

For heavy users, say people who need an aid 10 hours a day, the aid would last for forty functional days. Even if you need 12 aids a year, it would cost just $960, it's like paying in instalments and you never pay for more than you use. Moreover the Flexit needs no batteries to replace, no maintenance, is almost invisible and can even be sent to you automatically when you choose. Can be procured without a hearing exam and with simple instructions. To be launched in about two months time.
