It is very sad for a nation to lose their brave soldiers on the battle field due to injuries or being unattended. Imagine the soldier bleeding and giving away his life due to haemorrhage and the authorities unable to help him as they are completely unaware of it. To deal with this kind of situations Biosensors and Biochips (C3B) have developed an implantable biochip that could relay vital health information if a soldier is wounded in battle or a civilian is hurt in an accident. The biochip (grain of rice) could measure and relay such information as lactate and glucose levels in the event of a major hemorrhage, whether on the battlefield, at home or on the highway. The device has other long-term potential applications, such as monitoring astronauts’ vital signs during space flights and reading blood-sugar levels for diabetics. With so many benefits, the Center for Bioelectronics bound to receive a well deserved $1.6 million award from the Department of Defense.

Experts say that this chip will help them achieve their goal that is to improve the quality and expediency of care for fallen soldiers and civilian trauma victims.
