Microgrippers: A surgical instrument that eliminates the need for incisions

microgrip.jpg Whenever I'd witnessed medical examinations where they inserted a camera inside the body in order to inspect the internal organs, it always crossed my mind that surgical operations could be performed with similar instruments in the future. As a matter of fact, a new medical technology of this sort has materialized. A patient could swallow a device called Micro Gripper that is activated by chemicals and magnets, which goes inside the body to perform surgical operations. Microgrippers work on a concept of reacting to chemical elements in the body. For instance, a group of Microgrippers could seek out and find a tumor based in the system and removing it automatically. The most astonishing fact is that these grippers are not powered by electricity, but solely run on chemicals that are harmless to the human body. Future medical procedures are sure to be benefited by this new technology that has potential for further development.
