A tea-bag full of stem cells assists the recovery of stroke victims

tea-bag-stem-cells.jpg A tea-bag is the answer to restore the power of speech and other senses for a stroke victim……but obviously filled with 500 alginate capsules. This revolutionary treatment has opened up new parameters for stroke victims. it is estimated that each year about 45,000 Britons suffer a haemorrhagic stroke, where a blood vessel in the brain bursts. This first of its kind procedure was tested on Walter Bast and he has shown promising results. Known as CellBeads treatment, it is the brainchild of scientists at the British medical technology firm Biocompatibles International. At its centre is a teabag-like sachet filled with tiny capsules, each containing around a million stem cells. These cells rejuvenate and repair the damage done by the stroke.

And since the stem cells are encapsulated in beads, they cleverly doges the body's immune system and ensure they are not rejected by the body. The 2cm square 'teabag' can easily remove it at the end of the treatment period. Just like how we remove the tea-leaves-containing tea-bag after sipping through the hot cup of tea.
