High level of bleaching agents in tooth kits

One of them is tooth whitening kits which has gained extreme popularity. But it has been discovered that tooth whitening kits contain illegally high levels of the bleaching agent hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide, commonly used as a hair dye, can aggravate gum disease and cause sensitive teeth or even chemical burns to the mouth. However experts suggest that it is important any patient considering having their teeth whitened consults their dentist, who will examine their mouth properly, take a full medical history and discuss treatment options.

Trading Standards Institute (TSI) tests found hydrogen peroxide levels were higher than the legal limit in 18 out of 20 DIY products tested. However people opt for these kits as it cost £14 for home use.
