Sex plays a very important role in an individuals life, but as a person begins to age they start believing that they no longer are sexually active, however a recent survey has proven that people aged 57 to 85, a significant number said they were sexually active into their 70s and 80s. That means old age is not stopping people from enjoying sex. About half of the men and a quarter of the women said they masturbated, regardless of whether they had a sexual partner which suggest that, among older adults, there is an internal drive or need for sexual achievement. Of course they have their own complications like amongst men the most common problem was erectile difficulties and for women, lack of desire, difficulty with lubrication and inability to climax were their most common problems.

The research also highlighted the importance of health on people's sex lives. People who rated their health as poor were less likely to be sexually active than people in good health.
